Levon (Rick) Anderson

Acting Director, Information and Technology Directorate

Mr. Anderson has been with the Department of Defense for over 30 years. He has served in a wide variety of key positions as a government civilian and military officer in the United States and overseas. Before his current assignment with OACSIM as Acting Director, Information and Technology Directorate, Mr. Anderson was selected as a charter member in the United States Army’s Senior Fellows Program in July 2007. As an Army Senior Fellow he was detailed as Information Technology (IT) Advisor for the Army Civilian Personnel Development Office where he was instrumental in helping develop the Army Career Tracking System; and as Army Chief Representative to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Defense Industrial Base Cyber Defense Task Force. Over the span of an outstanding career Mr. Anderson has successfully led several IT, personnel administration, and staff organizations. His assignments on the Army Staff included the Director, Network Security Services-Pentagon; HQDA Information Assurance Program Manager; Senior Systems Engineer/Analyst; Chief, Architecture and Information Management Division; Deputy Director, Army Artificial Intelligence Center; Army CIO/G6 Executive and Information Management Officer; Chief, Software Development Branch and Chief, Computer Operations, Army Operations Center. Mr. Anderson’s other assignments included the Adjutant General, 7th Army Training Command and Secretary of the General Staff in Grafenwoehr Germany; Company Commander and ROTC Personnel Assignment Officer at Ft Knox, Kentucky; and Platoon Leader, Division Test Control Officer and Chief, SIDPERS of 82D Airborne Div, FT Bragg, N.C.

Mr Anderson has had many career accomplishments. A few examples include: leading and developing Army and DOD-wide IT best practices; building command-wide communication strategies; working as an Army and Joint strategic planner; providing IT security accreditation and risk management services for all Pentagon backbone networks; and driving the acquisition, development, and implementation of state-of-the-art IT systems.

Mr. Anderson is a 2007 Graduate of the Army War College, graduating with a Master of Strategic Studies degree. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Systems Engineering from George Mason University, Masters of Art in Management and Human Relations –both from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from South Carolina State University where he was also a Distinguished Military Graduate. Mr. Anderson is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute, Air Command Staff College, Combined Arms Service Staff School, Army Systems Automation Courses I and II, the Adjutant General Basic and Advance Courses, and Information Assurance Management Course. He is the recipient of several civilian and military performance awards, to include a Superior Civilian Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Seven Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Armed forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbons, and others.

Mr Anderson is married to the former Ms Beverly V. Hunter. His hobbies include golfing, motorcycling, exercising, reading, hunting & fishing, martial arts, & others.
